CN1 Cage Nuts represent the traditional U.K. size based products used for years in all aspects of U.K. manufacturing where the advantage of floating thread forms were required to overcome out of tolerance mating parts. The fact that the nut floats in the cage offers solutions to this problem. The cage nut can be used in blind applications it can be fitted after painting of the panels and so offers the designer lots of scope. Traditionally offered in Zinc and Yellow Passivate and very occasionally in Stainless Steel these parts can be supplied in organic finishes. Code 40111 M..40 defines spring steel cage, steel nut zinc/yellow. Code 40112 M..SS defines Stainless cage Stainless nut. Code 40113 M..42 defines Stainless cage, steel nut zinc/yellow. HSL in line with all other manufacturers of spring steel clips refuses to accept liability for any premature failure of any spring steel part it supplies with an Electro-Plated Finish that has been specified by the customer, due to uncertainty regarding the incidence of, identification of, control of and removal of Hydrogen Embrittlement. Despite accurate processing controls, baking cannot be relied upon to guarantee removal of Hydrogen. We strongly recommend alternative finishes be specified.
