CN Cage Nuts represent the traditional European metric size based products used for years in all aspects of European manufacturing. The greater variation on panel ranges has allowed these products to superceed the traditional UK sizes which were limited to only two panel ranges.They are totally interchangeable with the old standards but offer the designer greater choice of Hole Sizes and Panel thicknesses. They are particularly usefull where the advantage of floating thread forms are required to overcome out of tolerance mating parts. The fact that the nut floats in the cage offers a simple cost effective solution to this otherwise expensive problem. The cage nut can be used in blind applications; it can be fitted after painting of the panels and so offers the designer lots of advantages. HSL, in line with all other manufacturers of spring steel clips, refuses to accept liability for any premature failure of any spring steel part it supplies with an Electro-Plated Finish that has been specified by the customer, due to uncertainty regarding the incidence of, identification of, control of and removal of Hydrogen Embrittlement. Despite accurate processing controls, baking/anealing cannot be relied upon to guarantee removal of Hydrogen. We strongly recommend alternative finishes be specified.
