|
SPFC Screw Down Panel Captive Fasteners utilise the clinch method to remain attached to the sheet via the coining groove. This groove being filled with material during the installation process due to the squeezing action of the installation press. The screw is then used to fasten the panel to a mating cabinet. With thoughtful application design these fasteners can be used to make and brake contacts in the cabinet by using the helix of the screw thread to jack the panel accessories in and out of their location, prior to becoming disengaged with the mating cabinet. Different screw protrusion lengths are provided for this purpose. For illustration the same principle is currently used on the latest household fuse holders where the fuse is retained in an outer case and only becomes in contact with the power contacts when screwed into position with the captive screw in the outer case.
