DDK inserts can be installed with heat staking, ultrasonic vibration or pressed in cold into thermoplastic applications. Due to the encapsulation achieved by either heat staking or ultrasonic vibration, the torque and pullout load resistance is superior to that displayed by the insert when merely pressed in as only the frictional resistance is providing retention. However in some light duty applications this is perfectly adequate. Whichever method is used, the installation is achieved very rapidly due to the fact that this insert is symmetrical and provides further advantages in speed of orientation whether for hand location, semi automation or fully automated applications.
