The TC Insert for plastic has two or more cutting flutes to maintain stability. Outward stress is reduced by the action of self tapping so that it may be used in brittle materials and also where there are thin walls. The balanced cutting load of the insert reduces 'side thrust' caused by predominately only one cutting edge and therefore guarantees much closer axial alignment of the insert in the hole. Also, because each cutting thread has less distance to travel between start and finish of the installation process (due to the coarse external thread), there is less chance of it breaking down in hard abrasive materials.
